Why Do We Offer Free Christian Resources?

A Biblical View of Free Christian Ministry Resources

In a world where almost everything seems to come with a price tag, it’s fair to wonder why we choose to offer Christian resources for free and make free Christian ministry resources available without charge.

The answer isn’t about marketing or strategy—it’s shaped by Scripture, conviction, and a desire to keep the focus where it truly belongs: on God, not money.

At its heart, ministry isn’t a business; it’s a calling.

That said, this doesn’t mean asking for donations is wrong—it can actually be a healthy part of ministry life, and even the Bible gives it a thumbs-up.

Ministry Is Not About Profit or Personal Gain

We do not believe in enriching ourselves through ministry. The message of the Gospel is too precious to be turned into a product or reduced to a financial transaction.

When Jesus sent out His disciples, He did not send them to build wealth from the message, but to freely carry what they had freely received.

That is why we focus on a simple calling: to preach, to teach, and to pray for healing.

Anything beyond this risks shifting attention away from the true purpose of ministry.

My mentor turned down millions in funding just to stay true to the principles of God. In his biographies I’m Alive and Miracles for Sale, I share several examples of this. You might honestly be a bit shocked at how unbothered he was by money—even when some very tempting offers came his way.

If God desires something to be done,
He will provide what is needed.

Dependence on God, Not Money

A key foundation for offering free Christian ministry resources is this: we do not rely on money to accomplish the plan of God—we rely on God Himself. If God desires something to be done, He will provide what is needed. This does not remove the practical realities of life and ministry, but it does reorder priorities.

Provision is not the boss—God is. And when money starts trying to run the show, ministry can quietly slip from calling into performance, or worse, a bit of spiritual commerce instead of simple service.

Biblical Warning Against Preaching for Profit

Scripture is clear that some misuse ministry for financial gain:

1 Timothy 6:5
“imagining that godliness is a means of gain.”

1 Timothy 6:9–10
“For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil…”

Titus 1:11
“teaching for shameful gain…”

1 Peter 5:2
“not for shameful gain, but eagerly”

2 Corinthians 2:17
“peddlers of God’s word”

1 Corinthians 9:18
"...I may present the gospel free of charge, so as not to make full use of my right in the gospel.”

These passages highlight a serious warning: the Gospel must never be treated as a commercial product

Supporting Those Who Teach the Word

While we offer Christian resources for free, Scripture also teaches the importance of supporting those who minister the Word.

📖 Galatians 6:6 (ESV) “Let the one who is taught the word share all good things with the one who teaches.”

📖 Galatians 6:6 (NIV) “Nevertheless, the one who receives instruction in the word should share all good things with their instructor.”

This demonstrates mutual honour, partnership, and recognition of the value of teaching God’s Word

Giving as Worship, Not Pressure

The New Testament emphasises the heart behind giving:

📖 2 Corinthians 9:7 “Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”

Giving was never meant to feel like pressure sales at the door—it’s supposed to be a joyful response to God’s grace. When it’s willing rather than forced, it stops feeling like obligation and starts looking a lot more like God’s own generous heart in action.

Freely Received, Freely Given

Jesus set the foundation for all ministry:

📖 Matthew 10:8 “Freely you have received; freely give.”

Everything we receive from God—grace, truth, forgiveness, and spiritual gifts—is not earned. Because it is freely received, it is to be freely shared. This principle protects ministry from exploitation and keeps the Gospel pure.

It is not a product; it is a gift.

Freedom in Giving and Receiving

Our approach is built on freedom. Free Christian ministry resources are made available so that access to teaching, encouragement, and spiritual help is not limited by finances. At the same time, individuals are free to respond as they feel led. There is no compulsion. No pressure. No manipulation. Feel free to give or not to give. The goal is sincerity, not obligation.

Final Thought

Christian ministry is healthiest when it reflects the generosity of God Himself.

When Christian resources for free are shared, and free Christian ministry resources are offered without commercial pressure, the focus remains where it should be—on Christ.

Freely given truth should be freely shared, and giving should always flow from a willing heart.
