Read how God spoke to me and said I would preach in a land of coconut trees.
My journey to Kerala, India, started with a series of what I can only call divine connections.
It all began at the Bibleway Youth Conference in the UK. I met a young lady there for the first time and gave her my ministry card. She was heading to Northern India and ended up passing it on to Pastor T. Samuel in New Delhi.

Not long after, Pastor Samuel was involved in an accident and ended up in the hospital. While he was there, a close friend of his, Pastor T.C. John from Kerala in the South, visited him. Looking back, I can see how God was quietly putting all the pieces together.
When God spoke to me, “You will preach in the land of coconut trees”
One ordinary morning, I was going through the post. In one large envelope was a Christian newspaper. As I flicked through it, I came across a photo of lush green water and coconut trees. Straight away, I heard: “You are going to a land of coconut trees to preach the gospel.”

When God speaks to me, I am stirred up. His words are alive!
I immediately cut the picture out and placed it on my desk as a reminder. Part of me wondered if it might be somewhere like Hawaii. Either way, I assumed it was something far off in the future. But God already had it in motion.
A few months later, a letter arrived that stood out straight away—bright green and red, typed address, very unusual. It was an invitation from Pastor T.C. John, General Superintendent of the Immanuel Pentecostal Churches in Kerala. He had received my ministry card through the hospital visit connection in Delhi with Pastor T. Samuel.

After consideration, my wife and I accepted the invitation and set off for a place we’d never even heard of before. First, we travelled to North India, and then we took a long three-day train journey down to the south.
Early one morning, the train pulled into Trivandrum, Kerala. I remember looking out and immediately saying to my wife, “This is it… this is where I was told I’d come to preach.”
All I could see was green water and coconut trees everywhere—the exact picture I’d cut out months earlier. I later found out that Kerala actually means “land of coconuts.”

My time there was something I’ll never forget. It really taught me the importance of being where God wants you, even when you don’t see the full picture at the start. I later learned there had even been a prophecy that someone would be sent by God from England.
At one of the small meetings, I met Pastor Albert Williams.
I went on to host a pastors and workers conference there for seven years, arranged by Pastor Williams.

On the last day of the final conference, I stood on a chair and prophesied that the next time I came, it would be like “thunder”. At the time, I had no idea it would turn out to be my last conference in Kerala.
I still have that photo God used to speak to me. It’s a simple reminder that God really does guide the steps along the way.
I'm feeling that call to return after nineteen years.
